Quickstart guide for git-is-deployed
git-is-deployed is a simple script to update a git tag and somewhat abuse the tag system. It will force the current commit to be tagged with deployed. This is useful when working with multiple states for (by example) a website. It makes a simple bookmark for the currently live state of code.
First, clone the repo:
git clone git://eclecticmedia.space/public/git-is-deployed
Now, copy the file within ./bin anywhere on your path. Optionally, the setup.py script exists to automatically copy the script to /opt, assuming /opt is on your path.
The script is exceedingly simple, as it does not require any arguments.
$ git is-deployed # when git finds a script on your path that has `git-` as the first characters, it appends it to your git executable. - OR - $ git-is-deployed
